February 2-4, 2012, Holiday Inn, Burbank, CA was colored in Ruby tones and filled with free spirit of Ruby development. The organizers selected this place to hold a LA RubyConf 2012. Altoros couldn’t ignore the event and our Ruby geeks, Sergey Sergyenko and Vadim Golub, set out to California. The Conf-styled T-shirts and tea/coffee with sweets to refresh brains set the mood for the event and encouraged relaxed and productive cooperation at the same time. The first two days involved the participants into workshops where everybody could show in practice what Ruby gives to the developers and why more and more companies and start-ups consider it a right decision for their projects.

The last day included sessions on different Ruby-related issues. Here, the attendees could learn about the top-notch developments and tools and pick up some useful ideas from their counterparts. The presenters shared their experience on how to start making awesome command line applications with Ruby or how to scale a Ruby Web service. The participants could get the information on the test-driven development of the command-line applications and “Metrics-Driven Ruby/Rails Performance.”

Broadband Wi-Fi access provided by one of the sponsors, enabled the participants to tweet the conference live to give a chance to those who were not there to enjoy the event.
