Altoros Speaks at Inter-Governmental IT Forum in Sweden

The event was aimed at establishing Belarus–Sweden cooperation in the IT industry, including near-shoring to Belarus, inter-government support, etc.

Seminar highlights

Stockholm, Sweden—During March 18–19, 2009, Altoros was a part of the official Belarusian delegation that discussed cooperation between Belarus and Sweden in the IT industry at the governmental level.

On March 18, the “Discover IT Belarus” seminar was held in the Royal Academy of Science in Stockholm, Sweden. The seminar aimed to provide Swedish companies with the possibility to learn about the IT industry and Hi-Tech Park, a government-supported initiative, in Belarus. The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Royal Institute of Technology, Belarus-Sweden Board of Trade, Ericsson, and other Swedish IT organizations were among the participants. The speakers discussed possible cooperation, including near-shoring to Belarus, inter-government support, high quality of Belarusian engineering staff and education, competitive prices in Eastern Europe, geographic/cultural proximity, etc.

Andrei Yurkevich, the President of Altoros, spoke on major risks of distributed software product engineering and elaborated on how to efficiently mitigate them.

On March 19, the participants visited KISTA Park, the leading technology center in Sweden. Mats Hedenstrom, the Marketing Director of KISTA, highly appreciated the possibilities of Belarus–Sweden cooperation in the IT industry and dwelled on the center’s basic principles and strategy. At the end on the event, the participants had an opportunity to discuss joint projects face to face.
