Why Should Start-ups, Investors, and Developers Care About Ruby on Rails?

A couple of days ago, our CEO told me about an interesting chat he had with the leader of one of the start-ups last week. Here’s an extract from their talk:

– What language do you use for your project?
– Java.
– Are there other start-ups in your segment that use Java, as well?
– Haven’t heard of any. Everything is made using PHP, Python, and Ruby, Ruby, Ruby.

A panel on best practices in offshoring

In December 2004, Renat Khasanshyn, CEO at Altoros, took part in the panel entitled “Best Practices in Offshore Outsourcing” together with representatives of the major IT companies (such as IBM) and educational organizations (such as Duke University). The speakers recognized the potential impact of offshoring on the U.S. economy–read the article by the Herald Sun for more details.
